Blood Rock is back with "Broadway Sings Blood Rock," the studio recordings featuring 2 Tony nominated performers!
New York, NY (8/10/20)
After an auspicious Los Angeles debut for show creator Michael Berns, Broadway producer Conwell Worthington (Beauty and The Beast world tour) is bringing Blood Rock The Musical to the recording studio with Broadway stars, including two Tony Award nominees, to record a selection of songs from the show, to be released this summer on 8/21/20.
The project features last year's Tony nominee Damon Daunno, who electrified audiences playing Curly in the revival of Oklahoma! on Broadway, and Andy Mientus, known for starring in Broadway's Les Misérables, and more recently for his portrayal of the Pied Piper in the hit CW television series, "The Flash."
Also featured are Robert Torti, Tony nominee for Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express, and star of Lloyd Webber's film adaptation of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Jennifer DiNoia, known for her portrayal of Elphaba in the current cast of Wicked on Broadway.
The six song EP album is titled "Broadway Sings Blood Rock The Musical," with music by Michael Berns and lyrics by Michael Berns and Ralph Pezzullo. Several songs get additional vocals by Berns, as he trades lines with Andy Mientus on the tune "Didn't Notice Us."
The stage team assisting in bringing this project to the studio includes director/choreographer Kay Cole (original cast member of A Chorus Line - Broadway), and production designer Andy Walmsley (The Buddy Holly Story, "American Idol").
The recording studio personnel for the album consists of Michael Berns and James Walsh producing the majority of the record at Walsh's Threshold Studios NYC, with sound engineers Derek Rusinek and Andy Yanchyshyn. Additional performances were recorded at Adrenaline Studios, Las Vegas, with Matt Smith as sound engineer.
The album is set to be released exclusively on iTunes and Apple Music on 8/21/20, with a worldwide release on all other streaming platforms the following month on 9/18/20.
The first single from the album, "Heart For You To Break," performed by Damon Daunno and Jennifer DiNoia, will also be released on 8/21/20 on iTunes with a music video for the song to be released on the Blood Rock The Musical Youtube channel. Additional interviews with the featured singers and the production team will be released on the musical's official Instagram channel.
